What
we do
We build custom interior and exterior solid wood doors.
We have produced hundreds of different door designs. We
will evaluate a door design from
an architect, building contractor, or homeowner. If it
meets our structural requirements, we will build it.
With almost unlimited potential, we have made doors:
- with one design on the interior
and a different design on the exterior;
- using over 30 types of wood
species (you are not limited to 6 or 7 species like some
other manufacturers);
- with one wood species on the
interior and a different wood species on the exterior;
- with a different finish on
the interior than on the exterior,
- with wood carvings by Jim Gullickson;
- and with stained glass by the
best artists in the area.
Our
business history
We started manufacturing doors in 1995. Our first door was
for an architect in Minneapolis. After seeing our
door, our business has grown considerably simply by word
of mouth. We have now shipped doors to 26 states, including
Alaska. Most of our current door production is shipped to
the Minneapolis/St. Paul area and surrounding six states.
About
our staff
Doors of Distinction is owned by Ed and Joyce Gullickson
and operated with their son's Dan, Jim, and Brian. As door craftsmen,
both Ed and Dan take pride in the fact that all of the manufacturing
operations from core glue up, machining, assembly, final
sanding, finishing when requested, and fitting are all done
in-house. Jim produces beautiful wood carvings for those doors that require it and Brian is in charge of the website you are viewing.
What
makes us unique
We believe in using traditional woodworking techniques to
make doors that will last for generations. We believe
we are building the best custom doors possible.
